Patient Communication
Answer every call, and know which ones need a person
Every call answered on the first ring, and the ones needing a person arrive with the context.
- First ring
- Every call, including evenings and weekends
- With context
- Transfers arrive with transcript and intent
- Never lost
- Dropped calls queued for callback
What Changes
How it goes without automation
- Morning surge arrives faster than the desk can answer, and callers hold or hang up.
- The ones who hang up are invisible: nobody knows who called or what they needed.
- Evenings and weekends go to voicemail, so Monday starts behind.
- Every transfer means the patient repeats themselves to the second person.
How it goes with Joud Health
- Every call is answered immediately, however many arrive at once.
- Routine requests are handled start to finish and written to the chart.
- Calls that need judgement reach your team with the transcript already on screen.
- Anything dropped is captured and queued for a callback rather than lost.

A patient calls
Any hour, including evenings, weekends, and through the morning surge.
Joud Health
Answered on the first ring
No queue and no hold music. Call volume does not change the wait, because there is no single desk to queue behind.
Joud Health
Intent and urgency read
What the caller needs is classified while they are still speaking, along with how urgent it sounds.

Recorded either way
Transcript, intent, and outcome are stored, and anything actioned is written to the chart. A transferred call is documented the same as one handled start to finish.

A point solution finishes its own job and stops. These workflows run on one platform and one EMR connection, so the end of one is the start of the next.

Questions
What happens on a call it cannot handle?
It transfers to your team, and the person picking up sees the transcript and the classified intent before they say hello. The patient does not start again from the beginning. That repetition is what usually makes a transfer feel worse than the call that prompted it.
Will patients know they are not talking to a person?
Yes. It identifies itself, and it is configured with your clinic’s own wording rather than a generic script. Clinics that have tried hiding it find patients notice anyway, and resent it.
What about the morning surge?
Calls are handled simultaneously rather than queued, so twenty at once are answered the same way one is. The surge is the reason most clinics miss calls at all, so it is the case this is built for.
